ABOUT US

The Latino Employees Organization (LEO) was founded in 2015 by a passionate and committed group of City of Long Beach Employees who generously volunteered their time to spearhead the organization. Today, LEO comprises a diverse and dedicated group that continues leading the organization’s mission forward with their leadership and active participation. LEO is an inclusive and vibrant community with a President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and 13 board members assigned to various committees. With a commitment to fostering growth and connections, LEO holds monthly meetings where members engage in discussions about important topics such as professional development, health, wellness, mentorship, arts, and culture.

In addition to these enriching meetings, LEO organizes volunteer opportunities and social events that aim to facilitate meaningful connections among peers. By participating in these activities, City employees can establish new relationships and broaden their networks. LEO values inclusivity and warmly welcomes all to join, regardless of their identity or background.

One of LEO's notable achievements is its Annual Scholarship Program, which serves as a flagship initiative. Every year, LEO actively fundraises to provide scholarships to Long Beach students pursuing post-secondary and non-traditional education. Over the years, this program has successfully awarded 10 scholarships to deserving individuals, including graduating Long Beach Unified School District high school seniors, Long Beach Community College students, and California State University, Long Beach students.

To connect with a LEO representative or become a member, please feel free to email us at leoatclb@gmail.com. We look forward to hearing from you and welcoming you into our vibrant community.

MISSION

To organize and maintain a network of Latino professionals in government, foster supportive working relationships, impart career skills, and create a positive community presence. The organization is open to any City of Long Beach employee who believes in and will actively support the mission and goals of LEO.
