Join the City of Long Beach Latino Employee Organization (LEO) for its 4th Annual Churro 5K on Saturday, November 16, 2024!
Every year, LEO fundraises money for its legacy Scholarship Program. This special event assist LEO in maintaining its promise to help students reach their full potential, regardless of race, income, or background. You race registration and donations will go to our scholarship fund and continue to help support scholars pursuing post-secondary education.

If you're ready to make a difference and enjoy the outdoors, be sure to register for this year's Churro 5K run! The run begins and ends at Los Cerritos Park in Bixby Knolls and loops through the Dominguez wetlands. Finishers will receive a delicious churro and a gold-plated commemorative 2024 5K Churro pin!

THE BEGINNING OF AN EXTRAORDINARY IDEA
In 2021, the Long Beach Latino Employees Organization (LEO) came together for a brainstorming session that birthed an extraordinary idea— the 5K Churro Run Fundraiser. LEO's passionate and dedicated members collaborated to develop a unique event that would bring the community together and raise funds for their student scholarship program. During this brainstorming session, LEO recognized the pressing need to support students in their pursuit of higher education. They understood that financial obstacles often hinder talented individuals from achieving their academic dreams. Determined to make a difference, LEO combined their love for fitness, community engagement, and a delicious churro treat to create a one-of-a-kind fundraising event.
The 5K Churro Run concept quickly took shape, providing a platform for friends, families, and community members to actively participate in supporting education. LEO envisioned an event where participants would engage in a 5-kilometer run or walk, surrounded by a festive atmosphere and the aroma of freshly made churros. The event promotes a healthy lifestyle and allows people to connect, bond, and contribute to a worthy cause. LEO's dedication and passion drove them to bring this remarkable idea to life. With meticulous planning, they secured sponsorships, coordinated logistics, and organized volunteers to ensure a seamless and memorable experience for all participants.
